Hepatits B and C are diseases caused by viruses that are transmitted through blood, unprotected sexual intercourse and from mother to child during pregnancy or childbirth. Hepatitis B may also be transmitted through body luids (saliva and tears). Symptoms occur two to six months after infection and are as follows: nausea, vomiting, fatigue, stomach pain, liver enlargement and yellowish eyes, in addition to urine that tends to take on a dark colour. There is a vaccine for hepatitis B.
