Health education

Article No. 32 of the Italian Constitution describes health as follows: «The Republic safeguards health as a fundamental right of the individual and as a collective interest […]».The State considers the physical and mental wellbeing of its inhabitants as a valuable asset that should be preserved and improved through the cooperation of everyone. To this end, the State undertakes to intervene locally through facilities and activities suitable to ensure all the necessary assistance to maintain or recover physical and mental health. Therefore, health represents an individual and a social asset; hence it is not only a right, but also a duty. Prevention is essential as well: through early diagnosis many diseases (treated at the initial stage) may be eradicated successfully. Leading a healthy lifestyle is also part of prevention.
