Expressive activities

Expressive activities make great use of gestures, thus making them a form of art and encouraging the expression of one’s own emotional state and communication, which are key aspects for the development of personality. These include dance, theatre and mime.
- Dance: set of movements and gestures performed with the body following the sound and rhythm of music which is strictly connected to dance as its completion, as it gives it substance and communicative power.
- Theatre: in theatre, gesture is one of the privileged communication channels, the extra weapon to convey effective and moving messages.
- Mime: by reading the virtual reality and reproducing the gesture as if it was really happening through the movement, the mime allows us to represent ourselves and to identify with a fantastic reality to become the character represented for a while.
Every expressive activity has an unbreakable bond with the rhythm: each movement has its own rhythm, which is a kind of common thread that we find much in a class of physical activity as in a training session. In order to manage the rhythm better, gestural expressions are combined with the music very often. Music has the magical ability to touch our inner rhythm and to influence our emotions positively: in this sense, it can help us to use gestures to free our instinctive motor skills.
