Running

Running is a fundamental movement skill and the basis of all running specialities of athletics, of run-up in jumps and of fast movements in team sports. It consists of a continuous rhythmic succession support-thrust-elevation performed alternately by the lower limbs. Technically, the metatarsal makes a soft and elastic contact with the ground, while the pelvis and torso remain aligned. The raising limb moves forward and the torso slightly tilts forward, followed by the suspension phase that occurs between a leap and another. After that, the advanced leg leans on the foot again and the cycle is repeated. The role of upper limbs in running is also very important: they must be flexed at the elbow to about 90 degrees and they should oscillate in the opposite direction to the lower limbs.
