Lipids

Lipids are nutrients rich in calories (one gram of lipids provides 9 kilocalories) with primarily energy-giving functions. Fats help to absorb fat-soluble vitamins, but also help to insulate the body by regulating body temperature. They are divided into saturated fatty acids (hard to digest), which are found in milk, cheese, eggs, pork, butter, margarine, lard, cream, etc., and unsaturated fatty acids (easy to digest), which are found in olive oil and oilseed oils, oily nuts and in many fish. Fats should account for up to 30% of daily calorie intake.
sThe excess fats accumulate in adipose tissue and become energy reserves. Their deficiency causes dryness of the skin, diarrhea, and ease in getting infections, hair loss and, in the age of development, growth retardation.
