Body weight is an important indicator to check if the caloric intake satisfies our needs. It is important to know if our weight is within normal limits, in order to try to control and prevent the risk of obesity-related diseases (see obesity).

The body mass index (BMI) is a measure of body fat based on height and weight, which can determine if a person is overweight or underweight. Here is the formula to calculate it:

BMI = weight (kg) / height2 (m)
